Broward College Nursing Program Pre-requisites

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi, I'm new to the site (just joined yesterday lol, how did I not know about this site earlier??) Anyways, I have 3 more classes to take before I apply to the nursing program (HCP0001, HUN1202 and SPN1102) do I need spanish 2??? And why are the other 2 classes sooo impossible to get into? Every time I go to pick my new classes they are already full :banghead: how can I finish when they're always full even when I try to pick my classes early?! Is there a way around this? Can I still get into a class even when it says it's full, I really need to finish.:(

Also, I'm FINALLY in microbiology (this class was also always full, but I hopped on it when I seen the first open spot :woot:) I can't say I have the best professor  but I have to work hard in order to achieve the A i want. So my question is, do any of you have any tips on how to pass this class? Study skills? ANYTHING? This class isn't gonna be easy AT ALL. I'm scared :nailbiting:

Im just making charts...right now we are starting chp. 4 so we are doing shapes. My class has to know the names of the examples of shapes but not what they cause. So far it is basic studying. Maybe make some charts to help you keep it all in order. Especially the cell walls, prokaryotic, eukaryotic etc.

I heard you can take hcp online at sheridan vo tech but Im not sure it is true. I would imagine you can call and ask when they are offing that class again. I cant find it at all. The other prereqs are not required for their nursing? Spanish isnt required...and I dont see nutrition on the list either. It is required for BSN so that is why you might see it full all the time. There are only 2 classes usually and you need to sign up for that the first hour of registration.

Specializes in ICU.

You can take HCP0001 at Sheridan. You should speak to an advisor about the prerequisite classes. Some of the ones you mentioned are required for the BSN but not the associates.

Thanks for replying! I'm currently taking MCB2010 and the lab, I've already taken all the other classes. I'll talk to an advisor about taking HCP0001 at Sheridan (wish I knew this before, could've already had it done).

I'm starting chapter 4 on Monday in micro but I'll definitely go back and make charts so I can have them to study for mid-terms! Thanks again:)

For the HCP0001 course, you can get a waiver if you have healthcare background.

Specializes in ER, IICU, PCU, PACU, EMS.
