Any IPN grads out there that actually found nursing work?

U.S.A. Florida

My husband recently received the go ahead from IPN to start looking for work and has found that his limitations (no narcs for a year among others) seemingly disqualify him from nursing positions almost immediately. He is not very computer savvy (hence my posting this instead of him), so he has no qualifications for case management or similar non-clinical work. He was working as a nurse for less than 2 years. I secretly almost wish he would have just let his license go and found work some place else if that would have been possible. Our savings are drained after paying for all of this, we have 2 small kids with health issues, I work in call center customer (or use to before India took over) and my skills are not in demand in this city at all. There are tons of us unemployed call center workers floating around. I also am bipolar and unmedicated since we lost our health insurance, not that we could afford the meds right now. We have a total of $50 in our bank accounts and I swear to you he applies for at least 10 jobs every single day. I am working in a friends office doing gofer work for $25 a day so we can eat dinner.

I don't know how to help him find work. I'm not the nurse, and I'm not in the IPN program so I don't know all the ins and outs about his job duties and limitations. I am also not an addict, exact opposite honestly, so I don't understand that part of his life either. I don't want to push him for fear he'll relapse and I can tell he is getting discouraged and depressed. I'm on a downward spiral myself and I know without my meds it's only going to be a few weeks before I am going to be no help whatsoever.

Please tell me that you found work. What kind? Where? How did you find out about it? Please help as much as you can. I don't know what else to do.

Try HealthSouth also a short course computer class and he can try Coventry Health, Liberty Mutual or any number of insurance companies. Best of Luck.
