Nurses New Nurse

Published

As a student nurse I never ealized how much paper work there really was and just all that being a nurse in a speccialty area involved. I started in the OB department of the same hospital I trained at. I am so happy to be there and love my job. It is a major wake up call when suddenly you are the one resposible and you have to call the Dr. at two am. Some days I wonder why they hired me and if I am really an asset to their department. Does anyone else feel this way?

Oh... I here you loud and clear! At times I feel sooo stupid and the paperwork is so tedious. Yesterday they said..... How to you feel about assisting w/ a section? As in.... helping the surgeon, holding tissue, cutting sutures, dabbing blood, suctioning whatever goo was in the field.... oh boy.... I wasn't even sure how to sterilly glove and gown..... geez!

Well I did it and everyone was great including the doc..... boy jumped up the learning curve on that one!!!

Hang in there! We will make it :imbar
