First RN job application advice needed

After finishing the main part of online job applications, many of them have another page with a bunch of questions where you select from pre-set answers. Things like years' of experience, are you legal to work in the country, can you prove it, etc. They also ask if I/we have a valid license to practice in the state. These seem to me to be "deal-breaker" types of questions. I can imagine a recruiter checking that form before even looking at a resume or cover letter.

I'm applying for jobs now, about a month in advance of graduating, because it seems to make sense and everyone recommends it.

My question is, do I answer Yes or No to that licensing question? I don't have a license yet but anticipate one in June (which I have made clear in my resume). If I say Yes it's a lie. If I say No do they just stop reading right then and not even bother with my resume? So far I have answered No, but now I'm wondering if that immediately sends my application to the circular file. Of course, there is never a comment box on that web page where I could explain, so it's just Yes or No. Argggghh! :eek:

Any advice, oh wise ones?

Answer 'no'. In your resume, you should have a spot that says something like, "Anticipated Graduation: May 2011" or something. Good luck.

That's exactly what I've been doing, but then I started second-guessing myself, worried that with a 'no' answer they wouldn't even bother to look at my resume. It's good to hear that someone else agrees with my original instincts. Thanks for the reply. :)

Answering "no" to the licensing question will not be a dealbreaker. I've been answering "no" on that question all semester, and I got several interviews and actually (finally) landed a job last week, so you'll be fine! I understand why you feel nervous, though. I was getting nervous that my references didn't send their forms, transcripts weren't sent, I didn't click this or that on the application, etc.
