Hello,

I am an RN who is leaving my current position as an orthopedic nurse on the floor and will be starting in the ER next month. I was wondering if anyone out there had any suggestions for manuals or materials to read up on prior to going there or any suggestions in general. I would appreciate the help. Thanx!

Hi, I just went from OB to ER. My first suggestion, get some Vicks to rub on your upper lip for those many, many people that have not quite figured out what a bath or a toilet are.

Can you tell I had a steel wool shower when I got home from work today. Good luck.

:lol2: :lol2: Haha...thats very funny! And your right but you will get used to it. You will also get used to having to soak homeless peoples feet to get their socks off and sometimes, their pants.....gross.

Anyway, in answer to your question, if you haven't done your ACLS yet I would read up on AHA guidelines for resus and work on your ECG interpretation skills.
