Maryville University BSN to DNP

Hi everyone, I just got accepted into Maryville BSN to DNP program starting this January, I'm excited and scared at the same time, is there anyone doing this program currently or about to start in January? Pls let me know, thanks.

Hi Shadygirl,

I'm considering attending the same BSN to DNP program at marryville next year and wanted to know if you knew how competitive acceptance into program is? I know the GPA requirement is a 3.25, but is that really what is needed?

Hi-

I know this is an older post but I'm curious if you finished the BSN to DNP program at Maryville or are still enrolled in it and if so, how are you finding it? Are you feeling as prepared as you would be if you had gone to an on campus program? Also, were you able to find your own clinical site okay?

Thanks!

I have 7 more weeks left to finish my program, having said that, Maryville University is like any other school, you get what you put in it. I have been fortunate with my instructors and I think feeling ready for Boards comes from the individual. I didn't have issues with getting preceptors because I networked with doctors and Np at my jobs and Maryville has existing contract with some of the major healthcare systems in my city so it helped a little

That's good to know you were able to do clinical at locations you also worked at, I've heard some online programs don't allow that. Does Maryville require any on campus visits?

Not at my job location, another location that is part of the company, no campus visit

Congratulations dfHoward on getting accepted! I am still waiting to hear back...applied to the PMHNP program. I'm curious how long it took before you found out your status? I'm really looking forward on moving on with my career and can hopefully make some positive changes in mental health. Best of luck to you.

Congratulations Shadygirl!

I have a few questions, if you don't mind? Did you work full time during your studies? Were the professors receptive to any issues/concerns that came up? Did you feel this program prepared you to act as a knowledgeable and responsible NP in your field?

Thanks and congratulations í ¼í¾‰ again!!!

Hi Shadygirl,

Thank you so much for answering all these posts. I actually am interested in Maryville's BSN to DNP program too. I was wondering if you were able to work during the years you have clinicals (at least part time)? Also, I live in Maryland which is nowhere near Maryville. Do you think it would be a problem getting placed at clinical sites close to home? Also how long were you an RN before you applied to this program? I am thinking of applying to this program after I have gotten a little over a year of RN experience and am afraid that I won't be as competitive enough considering my GPA is not that great either. Thank you so much for your advices and input.

Also for those who have applied to this program, how are you guys liking it so far and what is the likelihood of me getting in since my GPA is low (2.93 graduated from University of Maryland). Currently working in one of the john hopkins system hospitals and what can I do in the meantime to boost my chance of getting accepted. Thanks everyone and stay safe!

I was already working as a nurse for 7 years before I started the program but that depends on you and your plans. I was able to work full time until my final year because of the clinical and my scholarly project so I ended up changing to part-time at work in my final year as the program got so demanding. Having said that, Maryville BSN-DNP is a great program and you will learn a lot.
