Help to choose BSN to DNP program...is it worth it?

Hello RN family,

I live in Southern California. Im in the market for a BSN-DNP program, or the traditional route of Master's route (NP) and then DNP.

I would appreciate some insight from nurses who are doing either paths or any advice regarding opinions. I work in Psych and the ultimate go is Psych NP in the doctorate level.

These schools have caught my eye:

1. CSULB - NP Masters program 2.5 years $20,000 then DNP 2 years for $40,000

2. Lima Linda University - BSN to DNP 4 years $90,000

3. University of SAN Diego - BSN to DNP 3 years $120,000

I would never invest in a nurse practitioner program that costs $90,000 and above unless I can get some of that covered by a grant or scholarship but that's just me. So not knowing anything about those schools, I would pick CSULB.

I would do the first one minus the DNP part. DNP wont really provide much economic benefit. 120k? Thats almost as much as my med school tuition. I believe I paid 22k for my np (somewhere in that range) a few years back. As JDLC said, the other two are ridiculous and shouldnt even be considered. Plus you have to factor in living expenses and interest on top of that. Will come out closer to 200k.
