BSN-DNP Funding Sources?

Basically none. If you were going into NP primary care stuff then you might find something. I couldn't find anything to fund in the front end. There is the stuff on the back end like you talked about, but that's it

Wow...so how does one realistically afford school? Are banks lending that much money these days?

I have school loans & they don't completely cover my graduate tuition even though I am getting the max. Good thing I didn't have loans for undergrad.

State boards of nursing often have scholarships. The schools themselves have a few. They are hard to find. At the graduate level they require writing assignments and good references. Many scholarships for DNP or Phd will only pay if you started your project/study (or will start by disbursement of money. The AANA wont send the money until you give IRB approval. Depending on what your specialty and focal area is you can check out specialty organizations such as AORN, HIMSS, AMIA, ANA, AACN, AANA, AAN. Your best bet will be school specific scholarships. But at the DNP and Phd level it is very competitive. You will need a high impact topic and a good resume, having current publications in your field really increases your chances. Being able to get published shows you can put their investment to work shaping the future of nursing. Also, participation in state associations helps. There are so many people going back for DNPs that you will really have to work to separate yourself from the competition. Employer reimbursement is another good place. Good luck.
