Flu shot clinics

Hi,

I am a new nurse hired by a company to start doing flu shot clinics all over our region. Our orientation is next month and we are expected to start at the end of September. Wondering if anyone else is jumping on this job opportunity and if anyone has done this before, and might have some advice? I have been hearing a lot of rumors that the H1N1 vaccine is going to be a series of 3 shots.

Our nursing students and new grads were being asked to work the vaccine clinics along with other professionals in different locations around the town and state. (I'm a PCA so can't jab anybody, but I'd sure do it if provided the training.) They're expecting a big push when the word starts going out that the first vaccine is ready (the seasonal) so they're getting all the hands they can. From what I understand it's 2 for the H1N1 - the first, then a 3 week wait, then the second, then a 2 week wait until immunity - but ideally they want everyone to have gotten the seasonal first.

Are they doing the drive-thru clinics there? They tried that here recently and it went swimmingly. I don't know the plans right now but it makes sense to deliver it that way if at all possible.

Btw, I'm in NW Arkansas.

I am in the Philadelphia area. I do not know about any "drive thru" plans. I cannot imagine that it would be possible considering the huge population and traffic we deal with in the area. I suppose it could work in some of the outlying suburban areas. Thanks for your feedback!

I've submitted my paperwork for Mollen Immunizations, and I've also emailed the CA BVNPT about the scope of practice for LVN's in these flu shot clinics. I will update as I get information.
