Working Schedule/Shift for CMF

Specialties Correctional

Hello,

I finally decided to make an account to allnurses.com! Been checking out the website for years! and found many valuable information here.

Anyhow, I got my set date to work as an LPN/LVN at a Correctional Facility in CMF (California Medical Facility). I tried my best to do my search regarding CMF work/ shift schedule, I'll find out soon when I start, I wanted to make a schedule because current in school for RN as well.

I would like to know if any of you guys have any information on what kind of working shifts and working hours they have available (do they have 12hr shifts? or regular 8hrs?). Hopefully you viewers out there can help me out. Thanks so much for your attention and your time.

Cheers!

To the best of my knowledge they have 8 hour shifts. Some positions work specific shifts with set days off, some work relief positions with set days off, some cover for vacations and work a variety of shifts with different days off. As there is a union, nurses with seniority get to pick their schedules first and that schedule is usually set for 2-3 years. They get first option to pick up overtime, those with least seniority are the first mandated to stay over and cover open positions.
