Can someone please explain what the sequence number in rank/sequence means? If I received a letter saying I am 3/19, is that a good thing?

Thank you!

It can be pretty good! Means you are in the top 3 ranks (you have to be in the top 3 to even get considered). and I think in that 3rd ranking, you are number 19 in line. You can go to the area of the job site that shows how many people are sequenced in each rank, so you get an idea of how many are ahead of you.

Is this in California? If it is I called them to ask about that and they said the first number is your ranking and the second number is the number of other people with the same ranking. So you are competing against hundreds of applicants when you receive a letter. Remember they give letters to all applicants with a ranking of 1, 2, 3. I got one letter in November and two in December. Two were from the same prison. One letter I had a ranking of 3/18, another 2/56, and another ranking of 2/thirty something.

Imagine how many rank 1's there are too? They go look at rank 1's first. If they don't hire anyone from that group, they go down to rank 2, then 3. It's competitive. What made me mad was they told me since they added my military preference points to my score, it automatically bumps me up to a rank 1 in the system for every employment inquiry. But my last two letters I was only bumped up to rank 2 from a 3. It's tough to get a RN job anywhere.
