What's the nursing moral, attitudes like in your correctional facility?

What do you think is the most challenging aspect of your job, staff or inmates?

Specializes in ER, PACU, CORRECTIONAL HEALTH, FLIGHT.

morale varies....alot of "apathy" is bred...remember, you work in a place where the inmates got nothing but time, and some nurses capitalize on that....ya know, long lunches before they get back to do more sick call, cuz the inmates "can wait"....

attitude varies...

and i will say that you will find corruption on all levels. i have seen trafficking by medical professionals, correctional officers, and up the food chain

working in a mens prison, after a long time, can have an effect on your psyche...you see men at their worst, start to see men differently, lots of women working in mens prison become members of the "manhaters club"..it can affect marriages, relationships.

just remember, working in corrections can have some effect on your mentality about alot of things. the only thing i can say is that if you have solid morals and a good attitude, you are less likely to fall into the corruption. but just tread cautiously, be guarded.
