UCONN MbEIN Class of 2010

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

Hello Everyone! I was just accepted to UCONN Storrs campus into the 2010 MbEIN program. Anyone else out there a new admission to the program?

I agree with all your feedback on UCONN's MEIN program (positives and negatives) - I am graduating from the Stamford location. Have a couple of questions for you that I hope you can answer: 1. Did you find that prospective employers gave RN new graduates with a BSN preference over RN's with a MEIN "certificate" ?. 2. Do hospitals want you to agree to getting your BSN or MSN within "X" number of years post hire? and lastly 3. How soon after you graduated from the MEIN were you eligible to take the NCLEX. We are graduating this week and were told the earliest we could sit for the exam is mid to late January 2011 based on paperwork UCONN needs to submit. Thanks!!!

The Master's Nursing program is a total tornado of confusion. No more Masters in Nursing anymore. Everyone must apply to the doctorate program. A big huge mess, no information. No more B-average guarantees admissions to the rest of the program.

A big thanks to the Studying IN CT person for all that help of "oh yeah it's not going anywhere". Yeah, it's gone. And there's no loophole.

Hey guess what - the Master's in Nursing is back! I figured, in typical UConn fashion that they would eventually realize they were shooting themselves in the foot and losing revenue if they got rid of it. Hope you all made it through the program and have the jobs of your dreams now!

Hi Everyone,

I know this is a little off topic but hoping you can help. I have decided that i want to go back to school for nursing. I have been a stay at home mom for the last few years and before that I was a high school spanish teacher. I have my liberal arts bachelors and a teaching masters. I don't really qualify for the UCONN mein program without taking a ton of the prereqs first since i was liberal arts and not liberal sciences. Does anyone know what the best road would be for me to do?? Thanks so much!!!! My sister is goign back to nursing school also at three rivers and im wondering if that would be the best option.

You will have to do the pre-reqs in order to be accepted into any school of nursing, UConn, CC, or otherwise. Choose the school for you based upon the cost of tuition and length of time you want to spend getting the degree. I believe the CC system in CT now awards acceptance to qualified applicants based upon a lottery system due to high demand for spots.

To Studying in CT:

Thank you for supplying an update on the UCONN MbEIN program. I have just been accepted to the program and was very distressed when I first read that the masters program had been discontinued; that the last class eligible was the class of 2010.

Where did you hear this information that the MbEIN program has been reinstated?

Thanks a bunch.

Hey Conn.nursingstudent (or anyone else who knows)

How long did it take after the admission review for you to find out that you were accepted? Did you need to interview? I applied for the Aug review and am feeling really anxious.

Thanks!

Hi scraplover72,

I applied in June 2011 and heard back in two weeks.

Good luck (-:

Oh, and I did not have to interview.

Thank you Conn.nursingstudent...I got in, phew! :D

Congratulations! What campus will you be attending?

Hi,

I am going to MEIN program 2012 and I am wondering is there anyone who graduated from 2010 or will graduate from 2011 want to sell their scrub and books? It is very expensive to buy new. If anyone who want to sell it, please contact me!

Thanks!!!!
