Hi, hopefully someone can help me. I am a new grad ADN and will be re-locating to CO springs with my family next year (the hospital I work for paid for my college tuition, in exchange I owe them a year of work). Is there anyone on this forum that has any advice about where to work, where to live, school districts, anything?:) I am excited for the change, I grew up in a high desert client in SO CAL and I'm stoked to give my kids something similar, southwest florida is the pits! Thanks ahead of time:yeah:

HI, I lived in Springs for a year and then moved to Woodland park (up the hill) :) Make sure to visit Garden of the Gods, and Manitou Springs is a fun place. I also loved downtown the victorian and older houses. Summers are great for hiking and winters can get deep snow..I really enjoyed my time in Colorado but moved to Hawaii. Where to live..hmm... I'm not sure what the current rental market is like. We bought a three bedroom house in WP and our payment was only 800/month so there are some affordable places there. I worked for MAXIM as an agency nurse and I worked for a hospice as well, the hospice was great work. Welcome to Colorado. Gunnison and so many other towns are just beautiful..

ps why was So Florida the pits?

hi!

I live in Colorado Springs right now and it's awesome!

Very enjoyable if you're a nature person, lots of nature trails and you basically surrounded by the mountains. there are quite a few hospitals around here but I have no idea about the job market since I'm just starting out. Housing is quite cheap. Garden of the Gods is amazing. I wish I could be more helpful. Good luck

Thank you, these are both great replies. To theKid: I'm not one for 96% humidity and summer weather 10 months out of the year, I grew up at the base of a mountain in Cali,so that's part of the reason. But where I live currently, nursing salaries are some of the lowest in the nation, and housing is atrociously expensive, it's very similar to coastal california's cost of living (pay to COL ratio). I'm a husband and father of 2, and to try and get by on less than 6 figures here is near impossible (forbes just named collier county, where I live, the county where the richest people are moving to). Southeast florida (miami/ft. lauderdale) I dig, it has flavor and culture, this area of south florida, swfl, is mostly transplants from the midwest.......just not my thing. I found out this morning that I passed the NCLEX, so moving a year from now is real, I can't wait! PTRGRDN, are you working yet, have any suggestions?
