CSUP Nursing Program

U.S.A. Colorado

Published

Hi so I was wondering what are the steps for applying to CSUPs nursing program? I'm a senior in high schools and plan on attending Csup next fall. Should I start applying for the program now or do you apply as a second semester Sophomore? Also what are the admission requirements? And is it hard to get into the nursing program? Thanks

Hi there. I just saw your thread and it is 6 days old. Ok, my first advice is to call CSU-P to speak with an adviser. Apply to the school as fast as possible to take care of all your financial aid information.

Now, I am currently a pre-nursing student at Colorado State University-Pueblo. This program is great because it is a Bachelors. Do you have any college credit already? If so, then you need a minimum of 23 credits to apply for the program. If not, then you are just going to start out doing your pre-reqs. This last 3 semester.

The pre-reqs include

Eng 101+Eng 102

A History Class

SPCOM 103

A Social Sciences Class (i.e. general psychology)

Human Development (PSYCH 151)

2 Humanities (1 Foreign Languages+Another of your choosing)

Math 156 (Statistics)

Bio 223+223L (Anatomy and Physiology 1)

Bio 224 +224L (Anatomy and Physiology 2)

Microbiology

Be prepared to study your heart out. The lowest GPA that typically gets in the programs is around a 3.45. More than half the students have changed their majors this year. Always have a back-up plan/school. I am pretty sure my grades rock enough to get in but my back-up is still PCC, OJC, or CTU.

To answer your question as to when you apply: it is every spring so typically it will be the second semester of your freshman year. Not everyone gets in though. You may have to retake classes if your grades are not high enough.
