Need Advice- What should I do?

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

I'm a nursing student and I recently applied for a CNA/student nurse position at a local hospital and on last Wed. I received a message from a woman in human resources wanting to set up a time for an interview. When I heard the message I was wicked excited and called back only to get her voice mail, so I left a message. She didn't call back on Thurs. or Fri., so on Mon. I called and left another message. She still hasn't called me back. Is this weird? I don't want to be a pain, but should I call back once more or just forget about it? Why would she call, but then not call back? I'm confused....maybe I should just apply to other places

It happens some times. Phone tag back and forth. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Personally, I would continue to apply to other positions; however, I would not abandon this one. The HR person could be out of the office or perhaps she is just one of those special people that it takes forever to reach person to person. I wish you lots of luck.

The same thing happened to me last month. I had left messages for this person in HR everyday for a week. The next week the woman called back and said one of her relatives had passed away. So you never know. If you left her messages, then you should just wait for her to call you back.

I've had the same experience as "emptypockets". There was some personal issue with HR and no one was performing the HR function when I was applying. Larger institutions (such as hospitals) may have personnel to cover and you won't run into this kind of issue. Smaller places (such as LTCs) are working on minimal staff and no backup.

I know, the first time it happened to me I was thinking all sorts of negative things --- they blew me off, the HR person is a 'so and so'. Then, I found out about the personal issue .....
