Fort Lauderdale Area

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Need to get my CNA to get into my RN school. Anyone know where I can attain this in the fort lauderdale area? How much? how long?

I recommend the CNA course at McFatter Tech in Davie. They are known for being a school that really teaches. The time constraints can be challenging, especially if you have a day job. Classes meet 3 days a week MWF from I believe 8AM-2PM and you also have online classes Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'm not sure how long the online classes are. The website states that their tuition is only $383 but I'm not sure if that covers books and supplies. Classes start monthly. You could also look into one of the Patient Care Tech courses at McFatter, Sheridan, or Atlantic, but those classes are much more time consuming (8 hours a day for five months), and expensive, although the school will give you financial aid. But if you're already studying to be an RN you probably wouldn't be interested in the PCT course.

Just need the CNA... I heard that you can take the exam for CNA after successfully completing your first semester of nursing school. Where would I have to go for this? Local hospital?

I'm not sure where you would go in FTL to take the CNA exam, but if you asked in the Florida forum maybe someone there could tell you.

^^^ good point. I'm still learning how to use this forum. :)
