As a CNA I can tell you that the facility you work for has some poor training.....First off, you should NEVER work a shift that you were never oriented on....All shifts are different.....Also, working a different unit that you've never worked at is also a no no....you don't know the patients and you don't know how things go on that wing.....

The only thing I can agree with is regarding the sections....When you're working another shift, you're basically the extra and the CNA's that have that section usually will have that section because they're the regular CNA for that shift for that particular section......I've worked in LTC and when I worked overtime, I told them, put me where you need me.....I'd go and not complain....I just wanted to make it easier on everybody......

Now regarding that Charge Nurse, I can see what she meant regarding taking a break....but it was only 15 minutes.....sheesh....I've never asked someone if I can go on my break, I've told them I'm going and I'm going......as long as it's not really busy....It depends on your facilities policy......

Next time, refuse to work that shift, and refuse to work with that nurse.....She didn't have to remind you who is authority.....she has a "I'm superior attitude"....I think we all know who has authority....and she didn't have to remind you with attitude......

    Good Luck
