GRE or MAT, Which one?

Is it better to take the GRE or take the MAT test. Some of the programs that I looked at will take either one and I was not sure which one will be better viewed by admissions. Thanks.

Choose the programs that you wish to apply to and then take the one they request. One person on this board said that a school did not interview them because they had taken the wrong exam. If some are requesting either and a few are requesting a specific one take that one.

If they will take either the MAT or the GRE than choose one. many of my friends who are applying to a program that takes both have taken the MAT, including myself. I can't contrast the two, since I only took the MAT, but some people have told me that the MAT is not as hard. It is definitely shorter, 50 minutes, 100 questions. But if you are considering more than one program you may be better off taken the GRE since all the programs I looked at take the GRE and some did not take the MAT.

I have just found out that I have scored a 72 on my MAT, which is in the top 93 percentile for nursing students. If you can swing in, take the MAT over the GRE. I am planning to attend ODU, which accepts both entrance exams. Their entrance requirement for the MAT is a 45. Other schools, such as Duke, TCU, ECU, and UNC-Greensboro, will accept the MAT. So I would suggest, depending on the schools that you want to attend, that you take the MAT. I only used Barron's study guide for a couple of weeks for preparation. If I had taken the GRE, I don't think I would have scored as high.
