Extra Curriculars

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering what role extra-curriculars (sp?) play in the admissions process. I am in an accelerated ADN program 3 yrs from CRNA school and have the opportunity to be in Phi Theta Kappa (Associate Honors Society) and possibly to be a representative in our student association. These both take alot of time and I'm wondering if they would help distinguish me from similar applicants? I have a solid 3.8GPA but was wondering if these type of endevours are work the energy since I am already stretched pretty thin in the time management department :p

Yep, extracurriculars are good, they show you have a personality, which is always nice. So stamp collecting, bug collecting, crocheting, the chess club, chamber music, whatever floats your boat..... hobbies are good. :coollook:

Our anesthesia director almost expects you to be a member of the nursing honor society. You want to be a rep for the leadership experience. Do everything you can to pad your resume, everything! A lengthy list will look impressive. It says that you are active in the profession and a leader and a doer, these are the people they want in anesthesia, ones who will advance the profession.
