Education path

I am finishing up my senior year for a BS in Biology at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. Recently I have gained an interest in becoming a nurse anesthetist. I was wondering what I should do after I graduate. I have noticed that some nurse anesthetist programs which accept non-nursing degrees upon admission. Would it be better to pursue on of these schools or to go for a BSN first? From what I have gathered so far the latter was the best option due to the need for ICU experience, which I would have none. What should I do? Also, do you know of any programs near or around Boulder, CO? Please help.
Daniel

Whether a program accepts another type of bachelors degree an applicant still needs to be an RN and have the ICU experience. You have 3 main options if this is what you want to do:

1. Attend an ADN program (associates degree), work in an ICU then apply to a school that allows other degrees
2. Attend a BSN program, work in an ICU, then apply
3. Attend an accelerated BSN program for people who already have a previous degree, work in an ICU, then apply

You may not have all your pre-reqs for nursing school yet. They differ by school. Good luck to you.

Here is the website for the AANA. They list all accredited schools.
