Hi there! I have been reading the postings and am wondering if those of you who are SRNAs are working while going to school? I also would like to know if the school in CA state Fullerton/Kaiser Permanente is more reasonably priced than the other CA schools. I graduated with my BSN in May and am currently working in an ICU in Northern California. I am considering travel nursing in Southern California, after my year is up, to try and save up some money for CRNA school. If any of you have any advice or comments please share! Thank you.

FAQ 101 - Do not count on being able to work, let me say it again, do not count on being able to work. Occasionally, one might have a weekend that is not spent in clinical and cramming for tests or just studying so you know what you're talking about and so an occasional shift is possible. Out of 11 in my class, 2 work 1 shift a month to keep their seinority. That's all and they resent everyone of those shifts!

Keep their seniority?
Why would they want to do such a thing?

I'm at Kaiser and haven't worked this semester. Way too much to do. I get up at 0415, get ready for school, drive then study until classes start at 0700. After class 1630, I drive home, study until my husband brings home dinner, study more and fall asleep at 9:30, only to start over again the next day. I have taken 2 days off this semester to re-introduce myself to my husband and of course, Thanksgiving.
Good Luck!

Retirement plans, vacation requests, the same reasons for having seniority at any job.
