Re: Austin TX/ San Antonio CRNA's
Capitol Anesthesiology Association is one of the big groups in Austin and a friend works for them. The culture is to keep the CRNAs fairly oppressed. They are wonderfully pleasant, but they won't let you do epidurals, etc. Just a few spinals (though the regional issues may have more to do with the surgeon groups...allegdedly). Most of them push the drugs for induction. I understand it used to be unbearable to work there but has since improved.
CAA offers the chance to live in Austin, and make a livable wage. They will never pay top dollar, but they offer a great "quality of life" package. you always go home at your designated hour, weekends and overtime are optional and available. great functions and a real party atmosphere. So many people want to live in austin, they get tons of applications, but seem to be always hiring. My buddy says the CRNA component of CAA is the best run group he's ever seen and hes been with over 10 groups.
There are also groups in Temple, AAG, and some small sattelliite groups around austin.
