CNM Goal Statement Help!!

Hi all,

I am in the process of applying to Frontier for midwifery and I really need help writing my goal statement. These are the directions: Goal Statement Essay: Please write a well-crafted statement about your desire to become a nurse-midwife or family nurse practitioner. Include information about yourself and your professional goals as a nurse-midwife or nurse practitioner. Please type separately and limit yourself to 300-500 words.

Every time I try to begin it ends up sounding so cliched. I truly feel as though midwifery is my calling, is what I am meant to do, and that all my experiences thus far have led me to this point. But it is hard to translate this feeling into words. Has anyone out there written one of these before and could give me some pointers on what they're looking for?

A little background info on me: My first week of nursing clinicals I assisted in a delivery and it was probably the best day of my life- the idea of being a midwife has been in the back of my mind since. I graduated in 2014 with my ADN, did my preceptorship in the neonatal progressive care nursery and loved it, then worked on an adult cardiac/tele unit until I could transfer to NICU, but unfortunately left the hospital after 6 mos due to health reasons (and I don't think I want to go into that on my application since everything is fine now... don't want to bring up anything negative). I then decided to try something totally different and worked as school nurse because wanted to see other side of nursing and was debating between CNM and MPH/MSN in Community Health for masters. Ultimately my desire to become a CNM won out and I now work as a newborn night nurse caring for newborns in family's homes. I will also complete my BSN this December and have a very good GPA.

I really appreciate anyone's comments/feedback on anything to do with applying to be a CNM, Frontier, or my goal statement- If anyone has samples that would be amazing!

Thanks!
