Potential Job Offer - advice please!

Recently interviewed for a field-based RN case manager position handling worker's compensation claims in the NJ/NY metro area. Specifics are: Salary is mid 60's, home-based, would have to use my own laptop and fax machine, monthly cell phone allowance of $50 (to get a second line on existing cell phone), 5-10 visits/week, caseload of 25-40 depending on acuity. I would really like to pursue this position, interesting job and hiring manager was very nice, but am wondering if the above specifics are the norm. Thoughts anyone? Thanks!

Since no one has responded I will do my best. I have no idea what is normal for NY/NJ. However, I performed field case management at one point in my career for a few years. I think 5-10 visits a week is great and so is a caseload of 25-50 depending on acuity. 25 would be a good number for a truly high acuity caseload, but 20 would be better. 50 for a low acuity caseload is OK too, but 40 would be better. Plus, I think reimbursement for travel by any organization I have worked for has been a joke given wear-and-tear and gas prices. I never had to pay for a cell or a pager and I was not reembursed for the use of my own...

If you are interested in the job , give it a chance. If you have a current job, keep your foot-in-the-door of your current job and try this new one. This way if you do not find it to be a good fit, you can return to your current job. Good luck!
