Which is the best CRNE Prep School in Toronto?

Hi,

I am an International nurse who is pretty new to Canada. I am located in Toronto. There are some aspects in Canadian Nursing that i am really new into. I would like myself to be equipped with those fields. Hence I would like to attend some CRNE Preparation Courses in Toronto. I have read mixed reviews about Toronto School of Nursing and Toronto School of Health. it seems like there are not much institutes other than these who provide CRNE training in Toronto. I would like to know if some one can help me choose an institute for my CRNE Preps. Many Thanks !

I know friends who have taken both courses from both the Toronto School of Nursing and Toronto School of Health and have passed. They all had good things to say about both CRNE prep programs, so its your choice. You can also consider the Primed education 3 day course, but its only 3 days and you said you're internationally trained so it may not be enough. They usually have several sessions. It has a lot to do with your level of education and experience too, so it is better in my opinion that you over prepare because you are internationally trained. I would start off by doing the learning modules on the CNO.org website. Type in 'learning modules' in the search tool and you will get free modules on things like consent, documentation, medication administration, restraints, therapeutic nurse client relationship, etc, etc. They are all free and will really help introduce you to Canadian nursing. I would also do the jurisprudence exam online first because it is open book and will also help introduce you to the type of questions asked in relation to Canadian Nursing. You should also buy the CNA study books, because they have practice questions, and are good practice as they are the organization responsible for the exam. It is also good to practice questions to help with your timing, because the CRNE is timed and you really have to keep up a good pace. Good luck and start studying now. Everyone who has been successful that I have known has studied everyday consistently for about 3 months. Don't wait until the last second because there is too much information to retain.

Yes, I know care4nurse. I contacted them . My IELTS scores expired recently. So I have to do CLBA ( Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment) They advised me to finish that first and I don't want to divert my attention right now. Once I clear CRNE, I can undergo the language assessment with a relaxedmind.

You know what is best for you, but I don't see the CLBA test as a diversion from studying for the CRNE, because if you have strong English reading skills you will find the CRNE exam easier.

Both IELTS and CELBAN are accepted language proficiency exams, why do you have to do the CELBAN? Can't you just re-do the IELTS?

Yes, I know care4nurse. I contacted them . My IELTS scores expired recently. So I have to do CLBA ( Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment) They advised me to finish that first and I don't want to divert my attention right now. Once I clear CRNE, I can undergo the language assessment with a relaxedmind.

CLBA is different from CELBAN. CLBA is just an assessment for your CARE4Nurses Cass Manager to determine your eligibility to become a member of CARE. It's NOT an accepted proof of fluency by the CNO, and definitely different from CELBAN.
