how's acute care NP in california?

U.S.A. California

Hi!

I am a nurse in NY currently and will be finishing my acute care NP program August 2017.

As I graduate, I am planning to move to california, (just anywhere california...!!)

I have no friends or families there, so wondering how is NP considered and what are their roles there? (as scope of practices vary each states).

cause in NJ/NY area (I would say most east coast) NP are kind of like running the show (at least in inpatient/acute care setting I know!)

I work in the CVICU and also am doing the clinical at Neuro ICU and NPs kind of do EVERYTHING obvious except for any major procedures....

they kind of own the icus and residents rotates through....

I was curious how it goes in california area.....

PLUS, I am planning to apply for california RN license first, so I can get my NP license after I pass my board on auguest....

(is that correct? you have to have RN licensure before getting NP certification in the state you want to work on...??)
