Help with Sutter Hospital's (Sacramento) Job App

U.S.A. California

I am applying at a number of hospitals including Sutter Hospitals in Sacramento. One of the questions on the application is "Have you ever been arrested for possession of a controlled substance?" (Not convicted - just arrested) A number of years ago I was arrested for just that. I was visiting a friend in jail in Nevada. The inner pocket of my coat had a small amount of marijuana in it. I had no idea it was there. Months earlier I had been given a medical marijuana recommendation for a chronic neck injury. It never really helped so I quit using it. Somehow some of it got in that coat. When they found it they arrested me. Later when I met with the DA and showed him my medical marijuana recommendation, the charges were dropped. Do you think I'm completely screwed because of that? Does anyone have any history with this sort of thing?

Contact the arresting agency and find out if they have a record of your arrest and subsequent disposition. You may also need to contact the Court where the case would have been filed to see if they have a disposition of your arrest. Get that info in hand so that you know how to answer the question "officially" and that way if they ask you about it, you can provide an appropriate disposition of that case. It's not exactly "good" if the case was never officially closed with a disposition. Those look like cases that are still open.
