Southwest Skill Center July start???

U.S.A. Arizona

hello all,

i will be starting my lpn program this july at the southwest skills center :yeah:. but, i still have many questions, which i'm having a hard time getting answers too. i plan on working a little while in school and i’m wondering what the actual schedule will be like. it states school finishes at 2:30, is that a definite 2:30 or do they have a tendency to hold you over? also, when do clinicals start (block 1???) and what is the schedule like? do you get to pick the days you do clinicals? should i even work at all? i start in almost a month and i feel totally unprepared. the advisor keeps telling me i will find out everything i need to know at orientation (a week before:uhoh3:

thanks

I too, am set to start then. The info I have gotten may just make things worse. It's my understanding that clinicals will not take place for the first 14 weeks, if not longer. At the time clinicals start, it's my understanding classes will be only 3 times a week and clinicals on the fourth day. I plan to work 10 hours a week, mostly F/S/Sun, we'll see how that works out. Class is supposed to be out at 2:30 however I have no clue as to how far they will go over if at all. I am sure we will have all of our answered cleared up at orientation. My big thing is I want to be able to walk my kindergartener to her first day of school in Aug. Not sure if I can be a little late one month into school. If it's a huge issue I'll let hubby do it......Other than that, Im hoping I am doing the right thing.(I guess that should be my biggest concern huh?)

Thanks you so much... that actually makes me feel a lot better. I applied in March and was totally shocked when I received my acceptance letter for July. But I'd already accepted a job and I DON'T want to have to pass it up, if I don't have too. My job actually will end before we finish our 1st block, so hopefully I'm in the clear. But my school is first and foremost, so if it doesn't work out, I'll live. I'm so nervous. One day, I decided I wanted to be a nurse, so I took the NET test (that day) and turned in my application a week later..... and here I am. I've been in school already for 3 years and have always really enjoyed it, but could ever find the right career path, until NOW. I am SO excited to start and get going, I can't wait. Once again, thank you so much for your help.

See you in JULY!
