hello- I made an appt to go to a info session at PMI tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about their program, it interests me b/c of the wait list issue at the CC. I understand their tuition is WAY expensive (like around 40K I think I read?).. but my main concern is what I can do after the program... my goal is to get a master's degree in midwifery.... will I have an issue doing this with an ADN from PMI? ...... and does PMI require any pre-reqs are done prior to entering the program? (I don't have any prior college to transfer).....I know I could probably get this information tomorrow from the information session but I rather not waste my time going down there if I don't have to & if I will have issues going from the ADN to BSN to Masters then I rather go through the wait list at the CC.

Thanks!

I do believe all of the pre-req's can be included in their program if you haven't done them already. I don't know how their credits transfer or if they will at all. Maybe a school like UOP will take their credits for a BSN or Master's degree? Good luck, I hope you find out all of your answer's tomorrow!

Pre reqs are listed for each program on the board of nursings website. I have no idea what they require now, but a few years ago it was: Chemistry (high school counted!), psychology 101, entry level A&P, and english 101.

Their credits do transfer to Grand Canyon and UOP as well as some other online school whose name I can not remember.

Their information sessions include some information, a comprehension type quiz and a VERY basic math quiz... or it used to! You have to "qualify" to take the HESI enterance exam through a point system and those two tests plus your number of college and highschool math and science classes all count, plus any experience in the medical field. Then you can schedule the hesi (EASY and basic.. math, vocab and reading). Once all that is completed you can interview do an essay and WAIT for a call!

It is a very reputable program, the education is there if you want it, good clinical experience.

Good luck to you!!

I just went to a session at PMI two days ago. The prereqs have to be COMPLETED prior to your starting date. If you are in the process of taking the classes, you just have to show proof, it wont prevent you from applying like with th CC's do now a days. However, they DO have to have an ending date prior to your start date. Hope that helps. Be prepared for an unexpected test at the session, you have to answer 25 out of 50 questions correctly to pass, no calculators. Test involves fractions, decinals, vocabulary, etc. The catch now is you have only 12 minutes to complete it, and have to get 25 correct answers.....hope that helps!

When I went there to take the basic test (tucson, az) you were allowed to use a calculator and you can take it 3 times total. I was going for something different the RTP and I passed but with the RN you have more test to do which i'm going to speak with them tomorrow. I would rather get my RN and instead of waiting for a CC waiting list for years. I want to get it done and the cost is the same. All my pre req that I've taken cost about 25,000 and the books are expensive so who ever said this school is more expensive hasn't went to college or maybe just started. The nursing program alone is 5,000 but that doesnt include scrubs or tools you need and the books each semester are 700 or more so it averages out to be the same. I have proof if anyone wants to see how much the college has me down for. I dont want to waste time being on a waiting list so if this is the place to get me finished then so be it and they do have financial aid there if you meet the requirments and there are tons of scholarships that they will help you with so dont worry just do it.

The classes are also longer so you can get done faster so if your not into being there long then you must not wanna get done fast so to me i'll give them a year outta my life to be an RN for the rest of it.
