I am looking for a new job. I am a RN with 16 years experience. I am looking at the VA hospital in Phoenix, Mesa General and have thought about Select Specialty. Can anyone tell me pros/cons of these places? Care to chat further?

Are you in AZ? I don't know much about the Phoenix area hospitals as I live in Tucson. I do know the VA here in Tucson doesn't get rave reviews about the care, but mostly it's directed toward the docs, not nursing. I did some clinical time at the VA and some things I saw were good, others made me run! But, it's like that anywhere I suppose. Are you interested in a specialty and if so, what?

I would love to chat with you sometime over the possibilities of the different hospitals in the Valley. I have been working with a company called "Maxim Healthcare" it is a nurse registry. If you have never worked with a registry before, or have and not liked it, you will not have that problem with Maxim. They take care of you completely. Since I have worked with them I have worked at Mesa General, Select in Scottsdale, Mesa, as well as Good Samaritian. They have recently sent me to Desert Samaritian a hospital I really enjoy. They need more nurses so if you are interested, write me back and I will give you all of their contact information.

I have worked at VA through registry. Very good staffing. Extremely low turnover of staff compared to other places I have worked.
