Can a plastic surgery nurse move into acute care?

Hi everyone,

I'm a new grad RN. I have an interview for a hair transplant nurse position. I'm excited to interview, and I really hope that I get the job, since it's been 6 months since I've graduated.

I'm wondering if I work in a hair transplant office, would I still be able to apply for job in a hospital later on? I'm not really sure if this kind of work would count as the experience managers want for hospital jobs. I'm afraid that working as a hair transplant nurse would limit my future job opportunities.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I would say take a job for where you want to work. You can always work PRN in a hospital setting to keep up on your skills. Or when you do want to move from plastics worse case scenario you have to take a little refresher with the hospital.

I would say take the job if offered. It's tough out there right now. It looks better on a resume to have a job already when applying to other postings. I agree, you should continue trying to get anything in a hospital. Did you know that volunteering at the hospital could give you an edge getting a job there? I was told this by a hospital HR person.

What's going to be your job description/responsibilities when you work in that hair transplant clinic? Will you be a surgical assistant or the hair dissecting technician?or like an office staff?

You will be having your interview soon, right? just make sure what's going to be your position there because you might end up an all around staff.

But if your going to ask me, accept the job offer while your looking for hospital placement.
