Spring is finally here and it's time for the Spring Article Contest. More than 100 inspiring and informative articles were submitted for the Winter Contest, and we are hoping for an even bigger number for the the Spring Contest. Each of the authors of top four articles will win $150. The winning articles will be selected by allnurses members in a poll.

Articles must be submitted between April 1st and June 30th.

Many of you have mentioned in the Nurse Innovators Hub that you would would like to be a writer and share your nursing knowledge and experiences, but you don't know where or how to start. allnurses is a great place to try out your creative writing skills. There are some of our expert writers in the Innovators Hub that will be glad to answer your questions and give you tips. Feel free to start a new thread in the Hub and ask your questions. This could be the start of a writing career for you.

Need a few helpful tips?

If you are wondering what to write about, browse through the articles on the Home Page. You will see a wide variety of topics covered. Articles can encompass daily work, past experiences, education, study tips, technology, etc. Nurses Day/Week is soon approaching. You can write about special moments in your career, that special patient, what it means to you to be a nurse, etc.

Some additional topic suggestions:

  • Share an inspiring nursing story
  • Share your most gut-wrenching moment with a patient (no real names please)
  • What was your most chaotic day
  • What was your biggest challenge in becoming a nurse?
  • Nursing humor is always good
  • How-to's.....

More tips

TIP #1: Articles written on a personal level that answer a frequently asked question are popular with our readers.

TIP #2: Articles that promote engagement and are personal (personal to you; personal to reader), usually have the most replies.

TIP #3: The more descriptive the article is the better the response from the community.

TIP #4: Articles written by members who provide helpful feedback on other topics/articles usually have the most replies and shares.

Contest Rules:

  • Must comply with our contest rules and Terms of Service.
  • Must have a minimum of 600 words and be nursing-related..
  • Must be submitted between April 1st - June 30th.
  • No plagiarism
  • Articles will be reviewed and approved by staff for consideration before displaying publicly.
  • Must be unique; cannot be listed on other websites.
  • You may submit multiple articles.
  • You grant permission to allnurses.com rights to publish in social media, magazines, books, etc. You will be notified and credited if published.

How to Submit an Article

Choose the forum, like General Nursing, where you want the article posted.

You then post it like you are starting a new thread/topic, except where it asks if you want to submit an article, select YES, I'M SUBMITTING AN ARTICLE in the dropdown menu

You will need to include a 50-85 word summary about your article in the SUMMARY BOX

Then enter your article in the CONTENT BOX

Once you click the SUBMIT button, your article will have to be approved and edited if necessary. Depending on the number of articles submitted ahead of you, your article may not be published for a few days.

Thanks for your interest in submitting an article. The directions for submitting an article are in the first post of this thread. Here are more details.

  • It is basically like submitting the post you posted here. Decide what forum you want to post your article in. If you want to submit in General Nursing, click on NURSES in the gold tool bar at the top of the page.
  • On the next page, look for GENERAL NURSING and click on that.
  • Click on the green box SUBMIT A NEW TOPIC TODAY!
  • Enter a TITLE
  • Select YES I'M SUBMITTING AN ARTICLE in the drop down menu
  • Enter your article in the CONTENT box. Your article must be at least 600 words and it cannot be posted anywhere else.
  • Include a 50-85 word summary about your article in the SUMMARY BOX
  • Once you click the SUBMIT button, your article will have to be approved and edited if necessary. Depending on the number of articles submitted ahead of you, your article may not be published for a few days.
