Who is applying to UAH and/or Calhoun Community Collge Nursing schools Spring 2014

U.S.A. Alabama

Published

I was wondering who is applying to UAH, Calhoun Community College, or both in the Huntsville/Decatur, Alabama area. I have applied to both schools myself and I am starting to get anxious. I am hoping we can all come together to support and encourage each other and maybe even offer some advice. Don't be afraid to discuss concerns and ask questions, because most likely there is someone who feels the same and at the same time, there might be someone on here who can help. Good luck everyone!

I applied for the spring at Calhoun as well. Depending on my job status, if I am accepted I may not take the seat and wait till Fall 14 for Part Time Evening. I am nervous but excited to start the next part of this journey! I am so happy to be so close to realizing my dream. Good luck everyone! May we all get fat packets in the mail in the next few weeks :)

Cyndle, they recently had some workshops to answer questions about Calhoun's program but I guess they are all over with now because I couldn't find the link anymore. :( It helped me a lot to finally get all my questions answered lol. When I went the way it was explained to us was if you do not have all of the pre-reqs done you can do them up until the semester they are listed on the curriculum but no later. So if the 2nd semester has math 100 listed you have to be eligible to enter it that semester or have taken it beforehand. I don't see why you shouldn't be able to catch up and get some stuff done early during the summer. Hope this helps! :)

I woke up this morning not even thinking about what today marks. Then early this afternoon, I was reminded when I saw the date. For anyone who has applied to Uah, this means we have two weeks until we know our fate lol.

The wait is almost over!

I know!! My goodness, I'm so nervous too. :nailbiting:

I hope this spring it'll stay close to that 131, because that's exactly how many points I have.

Also, does anyone know anything about how they work out your class schedule? I was told that if you apply in the fall, you can work through the summer, but if you apply in the spring they won't let you take summer classes. Apparently you have to sit out through the summer. I hope that isn't true because I really want to finish as soon as possible :p

I hope you get in too. Let's think positive thoughts...of course easier said than done! I had no idea that there is a possibility that a Spring start at Calhoun possibly does not have a summer semester. That might possibly be a deal breaker for me. I want to go straight through. Hmmm, I just might have to make a few phone calls this next week and get to the bottom of this.

Ok, this is for all the Calhoun nursing school applicants. I just found out that Calhoun Community College is going to expand their dress code for the nursing program and allow a choice of the button down Landau top or the Landau pull-over scrub tops. This is not in writing yet, but they are supposedly sending out the letters reflecting this change soon. I am happy that they are doing this, because I personally abhor the button down scrub tops.

Let me know what you find out if you do call! I'd love to know for sure how it will all work out.

Cyndle,

I called yesterday and talked to a really helpful lady (in retrospect I wish I had asked her name). She said, the first summer there are no nursing classes for Spring start nursing students. She said this is so people that have prerequisites to complete can do so in the Summer (although I'm thinking there are other reasons because the Fall start does not do this). The second Summer does have nursing classes.

An interesting fact about this is regardless of which program (Calhoun or UAH) all of us here get into, we will all be graduating at the same time (Fall 2015). :)

Hi everyone

For anyone who has applied to Uah the decisions will be sent out next week. I called earlier today and they told me next week is the week! So exciting and nerve recking at the same time. I know we all won't find out about Calhoun decisions till November! Good luck ! If anyone has applied Uah please let me know. I would love to know my fellow applicants! :)

I just randomly searched for anyone been accepted into UAH nursing school spring 2014 and i found this haha. It is nice to know I am not the only one freaking out! Kissesnhugs you just made my day !! I have been checking my mail like 5 times a day because I had no idea when they would send letters! Did the Ms. ****** contact anyone else about making sure they had a class done by January? She also found the class near me down here in Mobile. I cant tell if this is a good sign or not, I want to feel like it is but then again I dont want to give my hopes up!

Hi jrl905

WOW I would consider that a great sign that you got accepted! I didn't receive a call from Mrs.***** about making sure I have a class completed by january. I've meet with Mrs.*****n on several occasions before the deadline to make sure I had all my ducks in a row, so I hope I got in. I did unfortunately find out about the Hesi A1 exam two weeks before the application deadline, so I hope my score wasn't to low. I took it without studying, but think I made a decent score. What class was it that you needed to have completed before january and when did she call you? Now I'm really nervous since I didn't get a call :( Im still gonna keep hope alive lol !

I didn't even take the HESI, the first million times I looked over the application I thought it just said priority consideration so this is why I'm not sure I got in or not. Once I realized it was needed I was home in Decatur for a funeral so it wasn't worth taking because I know I would of done badly. The class is Human Development. USA doesn't require this so I haven't already taken it and Ms. ***** emailed me asking about it and she found that LSU online had it where I could take it at my own pace and she said as long as I had it done by January it would be no problem. She couldn't tell me if I was accepted or not though so I have been going crazy. I wouldn't get nervous about her not talking to you because she only did to me because I was missing a class. I just hope I didn't pay all this money and stress over this class and not get in when I could just take it next semester but my fingers are crossed!

Jrl905,

I did already take that class, but I still think its a sign that you got in. I don't see any other reason Mrs.***** would go through the trouble of making sure you have a class completed before the spring term starts. Your right about the HESI test too. It wasn't mandatory to have it taken before you applied. So next week is the week we will all know for sure if we got in. Keep me posted on if you did get accepted and I will let everyone if I did. It will be nice to know some people going into the program, since I don't currently go to Uah now. Good luck :)
