Jeff State Supplies

U.S.A. Alabama

HI all,

As of the end of this semester a couple of weeks ago, I now have 200 points-- so I should be in Nursing school by this summer- Fall if I decide to start then (which was recommended to me, since I want the part time program)

I am not eligible for finacial aid- I'll be paying everything out of pocket, which I'm not sure how well that will go, but I need to try! I'm going to be reliying on the assumption I'll get some scholarships I'm applying for.

So, the question is, since the first semester is so expensive, can anyone tell me what exactly I'll need so I can buy a little at a time before I'm accepted? This would help me tremendously, and I could ask for these supplies for my birthday (I already asked for the shoes and stethescope for christmas, but I didn't know what else to ask for)

I know there's a specific place we have to order scrubs from, but what exactly am I looking for and which website? Y'know, that kind of thing.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

As far as the uniform goes you will have to wait till you are acceptted. They school will give you a pass code and a website to order them from. I would suggest buying just one pair of pants and top and go ahead and get your lab coat too to save on shipping costs. Expect to pay around $100.00 or less for that. You can get your school books cheaper thru either Barnes and Nobles, Amazon, or a million other places online. You will buy most of your books first semester then only one book come second and wont need another till 5th. The library has all the books too. You cant check them out but you can look and get ISBN numbers from them. The only other thing I can think of right now that you will need to buy is a pen light. I would go ahead and get your healthcare CPR class done too. You can go thru the Hoover Fire Dept. Its FREE for Hoover residents and I think a minually fee for others. They only do this once a month so that's why Im saying get it now or as soon as you can. Its good for two years. Immunizations is another Fee. My insurance paid for mine and you can also go to Shelby county health dept. I believe there shots are free or at least cheaper.

I wish you much success in your journey. God Bless..

Thank you-- that is extraordinarily helpful! I'll start saving my pennies--

My dad is a Fultondale police officer, and he has suggested the Fultondale FD classes. I used to have to be certified when I was a camp counselor, and I've missed having it.

Thanks again!

Just be sure its a healthcare CPR certification. I know there are a few different ones but the one you need for nursing is the healthcare one.

what size do you wear? I have a Jeff St uniform that I only wore 5 times. The top is a medium and the pants small and the jacket is a medium.

Thanks! I'll make sure it's healthcare!

Thanks for the offer of free scrubs- but I'm a chubby girl. :)

I'm a 1x usually.

I just thought of something else- How about other equipment, like stethescopes? Are there specific criteria?

Nope ... you just need one. I have a littman classic . I got mine from redding medical online. You will also need a pen light. I got a bp cuff so I could practice at home. Its not mandatory. But it was worth the extra money for me. You will need a good drug book but not till second semester.
