Jeff State Spring 2014 Hopefuls

U.S.A. Alabama

Hi everyone!! I currently attend Jeff State Shelby Campus. I am applying for the Spring this fall. I am so excited! I have taken the teas once but did not get the store I wanted so I am currently preparing to take it at least twice before the summer is out! So pumped...anyone else?

You're welcome! And if they didn't change anything, then we'll go all day Mon for fundamentals ( 9 to 3), tues half a day for health assessment(9 to 12) , wed half a day for pharmacology(9 to 12) then we'll be split up between thurs and Fri for clinicals....first semester is crazy but so worth it, second semester (which I love) gets better with everything (schedule, material, organization mainly)....I do remember though, thefirst two weeks in nursing school we'll be doing something EVERY day....I remember I didn't even get to work! But it'll get better as we get into the semester. :) hope that helps
Woah! I think reality has just set in. Well it's what we all signed up for when we made the choice to become nurses. I'm nervous and excited. I wish I could've done nights, but I'd be sitting around until August doing nothing since I'm in my last prereq right now. Whew! I'm definitely gonna have to go part time.

I'm soooo excited about orientation tomorrow! Anyone else? Or am I just that big of a nerd? Lol

Well we had our orientation today and it was a good bit of information but it was not as bad as I was expecting except for the prices... This first term is going to be killer all around. Let me know if y'all have any questions...

. How long was orientation? Can any older editions of the books be used or did they encourage the bundle only? Is class 5 days a week or will we have time to work? Estimate of 1st semester cost? Thanks! Sorry, I guess I have a ton of questions. Our orientation is tomorrow so I guess I will try to have patience. : )

It lasted about an hour and a half. She didn't push the bundle, but she did say that it came with codes to the online lab help. She didn't say anything about older editions but she did say we could just buy the books from wherever was cheapest for us. She said class starts for us Friday Jan 3, and to be prepared to be in class ALL of the following week but the schedule says all day Mondays, half a day on Tuesday and then we can choose our lab days of either Wednesday or Thursday. Clinical days will be assigned later. She discourages working but knows that people have to do it. She said to give the schedule to your boss to work around because they will rarely change it. First semester is gonna be super expensive with all the costs of starting like immunizations, background check, drug screen, malpractice, insurance, HESI, uniforms, skills pack, stethescope, ect.. ect.. FYI the background check and first term HESI payment has to be paid before they register you for classes... So do that now. It's a lot to take in but they will let you ask all the questions you need to. Which campus are you going to be at? This was at Jefferson so your orientation may be a little different depending on where you are. Hope this helps!!

Hey hey!! I will also be at the Jefferson campus. It's going to be so much fun. The HESI deadline isn't until December 31st, it only opens up tomorrow. I haven't received my email yet either so no worries. I have already done my background report too, but she said there was no need to turn in a hard copy of that because the secretary has them all on file directly from the website.

Did anyone from other campuses hear anyrhing at their orientation about what shoes we need to buy? They did not mention them to us. I really hope it's not the ones on the Meridys website...
