Hi, I'm a pt RPN in Ontario, have been for 25 yrs with no hope of getting full-time any time soon (if ever).

We just came back from our 3rd vacation in the Talledega/PellCity area and we LOVE it!

Any thoughts on what my chances for employment might be? I've always worked in a very small hospital and so have had a stab at almost everything post partum, med/surg, newborn nursery, geriatrics, chronic care, ortho and rehab and palliative care.

Specializes in ICU/CCU/MICU/SICU/CTICU.

Hi there. I wanted to reply about the hospitals in the Talladega/Pell City area.

In Pell City there is one hospital. It is run by Eastern Health Systems. and is called St Clair Regional Hospital.(Their mother hospital is in the Trussville area)

In Talladega, there is one Citizens..... It is a Baptist Health Systems hospital for now. The hospital medical board is in the process of removing themselves from the Baptist umbrella.

Those are the only 2 in those specific areas. There are 2 in Anniston (30 min east), 2 in Gadsden (30-45 min North) and 1 in Sylacauga (30 min south). They are all fairly small hospitals.

Hope this helps...

Thanks CardioTrans! Sylacauga would be fabulous! it's right near where we usually go.

I wonder what difference it means to staff and staffing if Citizens comes out from under the Baptist umbrella. Hmmm another thing I can search. Thanks again.

Well, about a yr and half ago, Sylacauga came out from under the Baptist umbrella. The hospital is doing really well now. The employees of Citizens are happy about being owned again by a local group, just like Sylacauga was.

Here is a link to the hosp in Sylacauga. I dont know if the website is fully functional yet, they just have brought it up in the past few months.... but it tells a good bit about the hospital. They are in the process of major new things happening there. A new hospital for one. I grew up in that area, and have seen the hospital grow over the years. Most of the people that work there have been there for years. Everyone knows everybody....

Here ya go

New to this site. I work at Citizens and love it. Most people there are like family, we have watched each others children grow up as well as ourselves. I am however, thinking of leaving due to daughter leaving for college and wanting to spread my wings!Must admit a bit nervous but good career move.May you always be happy no matter where you land!
