Hi everyone! I start the nursing program in a month at Bevill State Jasper Campus. Just curious if anyone has or is currently enrolled there and what all you did in clinicals? I was told we would be doing nothing but changing diapers at the nursing homes.....I want to see/learn more than that! Does anybody know if this is true?

Just have to add, apparantly Bevill is not very popular on this website..? lol I have searched multiple times for posts about Bevill and I have only found 1 or 2. I don't get it, Bevill is supposed to be in the top 50 nursing schools in the country! lol

I agree I haven't seen anyone talk about Bevill either. I also start the fall at the Jasper campus. I would like to know what to expect.

I'm starting Bevill in Aug as well, but I'll be at the Fayette campus.

Well maybe somebody will reply soon and give us some info! Lol. Good to hear of at least a few of you that will also be attending Bevill. I'm starting to get really excited and a little nervous, not much longer!!

I have a friend that is about to go into her 4th semester @ the Sumiton campus and she LOVES it!! She is currently doing her clinicals at UAB and she said she still loves it. Hasn't had a problem yet. She did say it was a lot of hard work. She basically told me to keep my nose clean and do as asked and you will be fine.:redbeathe

I'm starting to wonder if I should have picked the Sumiton campus b/c from what I've seen so far everyone there seems much more friendly and helpful...the people on the Jasper campus can be a little mean sometimes lol

I am super excited and nervous at the same time. I agree not too many people from the Jasper campus. Hope to see you there.

Hello, I am currently a nursing student at BSCC in jasper. I can tell you you most likely will do all your clinicals in a hospital- WBMC,UAB,Brookwood,Trinity,etc.... As far as what you do is up to your instructor some are great and some are just so so. It is best to keep in mind that you pass this course in the classroom so what ever you learn in clinicals is just icying. Most of your skills come after you walk out with degree. Welcome and congrates on your new adventure, FYI, Jasper campus is great and the instructors are very good. Be prepared for a serious challenge.. Good luckkkkkkkk.................

Well just wanted to update everyone. I am now in my 2nd semester and it's not all that bad so far! Clinicals last semester were split up, half the class were in nursing homes and the other half were at Walker Baptist. I ended up at Walker Baptist in OB, didn't really do much but took some baby's vitals and I saw two C-sections. I start clinicals at Brookwood this week and I cannot WAIT! I feel I will probably learn alot more there and hopefully be exposed to a little more. A few people last semester got to experience foley catheter insertions. I did get to see a nurse do one but she was in a hurry so nobody in my group had a chance to do this. I am absolutely loving it all so far! Anybody who has had Brookwood clinicals feel free to share your experience here! I would love to hear!
