Acceptance letters for Shelton state fall 2011

Hi Everyone,

I was just seeing if anyone has received there letters from Shelton State for fall 2011? The waiting is killing me let me know if any of you have received your letter from Shelton State.

Ok. All white and all leather. They can be athletic shoes or Nursing shoes found at uniform shops. I was told specifics are in the student handbook available online. Why didn't I think of that? Haha!

I agree. There are a lot of books! I got the list also. Now there are some that are just study guides and not required. I am also looking online.

Thanks for the shoe info Teaton. Are any of you planning to buy your own nicer stethoscope or is everyone using the one we get in the nursing kit? If you are buying another one, what kind?

I just downloaded my nursing apps and have been playing around with them.

Your welcome Meghantk! I have a littman stethoscope. What all comes on the nurse kit? I've got a blood pressure cuff also. How are the apps working? I was a little worried after reading reviews. A lot of people were saying that they weren't working as well after the last update. I plan to download those this week. So much to do!

I'm not sure what all comes in the nursing kit.

I've already had a problem opening the App, but I emailed tech support and they answered me basically saying just to uninstall it and reinstall when that happens. They have sent a new update to fix the problem to apple but we'll just have to deal with a buggy app until apple releases it.

I 've recieved two books that I ordered from Amazon. I'm going to go back to the school bookstore tomorrow I think and see if they have any in yet.

I go back to the Dr. tomorrow for them to read my TB test result and give me the shots I need. It cost me $324!

Saturday, I have CPR training.

It is taking a lot of time and energy but I'm getting everything done and hopefully I'll be ready for school to start on 8/22. :nurse:

I'm getting it all done also! I got my health paper turned in. I went by the school to turn it in and asked about the nurse pak. I was told that it just had things like cath kits, syringes and things like that. We are required to purchase our stethoscope, pen light and scissors. I went by the bookstore and there were still no books out. They told me it would be august before they were put out. I want to get all that I can off the Internet as well. I guess there are a few that I could order but I just don't know b/c of the online code that we have to have. I will probably end up having to get most of them from the bookstore. I also got shoes today. So one more thing down! I was wondering if I should purchase some headphones to use when we work in the computer lab. It says something about them in the nursing handbook but I didn't know if I needed to get any or not. I guess I will just send an email and ask. Are you having a lot of issues with the app? I read a lot of bad reviews about it causing people trouble. I hope they can fix the problem b/c I read that it used to be great before some updates were added and that's when problems started. I guess I need to get mine downloaded. I can't believe school starts in about a month! I have been so anxious about it! I am just so ready to get it started. I hope that once I get started I can maybe relax just a bit but I am sure that won't happen anytime soon!

Thanks for the nursing kit imfo. I guess I better get started pricing sthethoscopes, pen lights, and scissors. Have you bought yours yet? What kind of shoes did you get?

I got my first TB test "read" today. My titers weren't back yet so I am suppose to get any immunizations I need next week when I go back for the 2nd round of TB testing. They over charged me and are suppose to be getting part of it refunded to me between now and then. Warning!!: Be sure and make them correctly itemize and charge you for your physicals,shots, titers and TB tests. After charging me $326 to start with and then trying to charge me even more today, I questioned them only to finally find out that they didn't give me the promised discount for Shelton students, and even charged me for procedures I didn't recieve!

I'm going in the morning to take my CPR class. Wish me Luck!

Your welcome! I have gotten a few of the things. I have a nice littman stethoscope already. I bought the pen light, scissors and an id holder (will need for clinicals) at a uniform shop today. I looked ALL over for shoes. I was set on a pair of skechers and was walking back to the store in the galleria and saw another store and thought I would check in there just to make sure. Well, they carried danskos and I tried them on. Bad idea! They were awesome! More than I wanted to pay but I loved them. Good luck with the CPR class! It wasn't bad. You'll do fine:)

Well, they carried danskos and I tried them on. Bad idea! They were awesome! More than I wanted to pay but I loved them.

I've been looking too, but I haven't decided. My husband (restaurant manager, who works 10-12 shifts) swears by and loves Danskos. He's been buying them for a couple of years now after trying every possible shoe out there. I'm not completely sold though because sometimes we look for different things in a shoe. I'm considering Danskos, walking/running shoes (maybe NB), or Merrells. I looked at a pair of Merrells at the outlet mall in Leeds and they were a decent price, and didn't have any laces to get dirty. I love how they are super light weight and I've worn other Merrells before and loved them but I wasn't very impressed with how these look...we'll see.

Hey guys, I've been out of the country for a week and just got back in last night. I just wanted to check on here to make sure I am up to date on my info. Zappos.com is an amazing place to buy shoes... free shipping and they carry hundreds of shoes. I am picking up my Ipad today, and will hopefully download a "working" app tomorrow. I finally turned in my health form last Friday, glad all that is done. I don't even want to think about what our total for books will be :/ I sure hope they are on the shelves before August, I kind of wanted to get a head start just on skimming through the chapters.

Hope you had a great time! It's great you got a getaway before school starts because I know we won't have much free time come august 22. I was hoping to get the books soon also. The girl in the bookstore said they wouldn't be out until august though. Maybe she is wrong! Haha! Let me know if you find out any different.

I just got my CPR certification. I'm so glad that's over!

I've purchased all of my NUR 104 books through Amazon already. I've received a couple of them, the others I just ordered last night. I bought everything listed for 104 for $225.58 (new). They would have been $229.50 from the bookstore used. The one listed for NUR 103, I only found on a site I was unfamiliar with and it was the same price as the bookstore so I'm just going to buy it there. 102 is a little tricky because of the bundling and all the formats, I might wait and buy them ( or at least part of them) through the bookstore too.

I'm spending all my free time either on here or drooling over stethoscopes. I'll probably get a Littman II classic SE but I'm hoping my hubby notices the blatant drool when I look at the Littman Cardiology III and suprises me. I can't help I have expensive taste...A girl can always wish can't she? ; )
