Hi there

Always dreamt of working in the USA, as an RN. I am Nursing Unit Manager from Australia, who wants to get a job as an RN in the USA & would love some advice from anyone.

Seems impossible to make my dream come true. To get a job you need to get registered & get a visa, to get a visa you need to get a job, to registered with the board you need to have a SSN which one can only get with a valid work visa.

Really I would be happy to be an RN in any state & would aim for the easiest.

Please help!

I think you will find CA at the moment is one of the hardest states to get into. Many nurses already in CA struggling to find work.

Many International trained nurses are struggling to meet criteria for CA BRN and you will be required to have hours both clinical and theory on your transcripts in Paeds, Mental Health, Obstetrics and Adult (same for all states) and clinical and theory needs to be concurrent. Seen a few Australian nurses post in the International forum of issues because they do not have clinical hours in all areas, just check this forum out. There is the E3 visa available to you if you are Australian citizen and suggest you check out ghilbert posts as they have gone through the process
