RN from Philippines applying for Live-in Caregiver Program in Canada

I'm a registered nurse without experience here in the Philippines and I want to apply an LIC program in Canada.

I have a Canadian citizen cousin with a newborn baby and she wants me to take care of her baby. She will apply for an LMO as soon as possible.

I'm just wondering if I'm qualified to apply as a Caregiver because this somewhat confuses me "Your training or experience should be in early childhood education, geriatric care, or pediatric nursing, to name just a few areas. If you are a licensed registered nurse, with experience, you are normally considered to meet this requirement." -cic

Or should I get an experience for a year in the said areas?

Someone said I do not need a work experience and I just need to use my clinical experience while still schooling.

What city does your cousin live in? Some cities have enough qualified locals that it may impact her ability to obtain a positive LMO.

The live in caregivers I have met, have experience in childcare or nursing.

isn't it training OR experience? so you can either have the required degree or enough experience to qualify.

Just remember that you can only work for your cousin while on this visa. This experience will not count towards applying for a nursing permit in Canada when you decide not to return home.

My cousin lives in Edmonton. Hmm, I see, I want to ask, what if she obtained a positive LMO, is it possible for me to pass the LIC program despite the lack of experience? Thank you so much :) I appreciate your response.

Yep. I'm still clueless if my degree is enough to qualify though. I don't want my cousin wasting efforts and expenses getting an LMO :( Anyway, thank you! :)

Your cousin will have to try advertising in the Edmonton area for the live-in caregiver position and see what kind of response she gets, if local qualified applicants apply for the position, then rightfully it should be given to one of them. If she doesn't receive any response she can pursue applying for the LMO.

I am in Toronto and currently there are enough locals looking for these positions that when someone advertises, they receive applicants. I hear there are still employers pursuing LMOs, so I am suspicious that some Toronto area empolyers are pretending they did not receive responses and are misrepresenting their LMO applications.

I have the same situation likr you and same question regarding the qualification for caregiver in canada.

I want to work as caregiver in canada and i dont if i still need to have 6mos traininh and expe eventhoug i am a R.N here in the phil.
