Vanderbilt Grad Entry 2012 Application

Specialties Advanced

Published

Hello! I have seen forums for the previous years' application cycles, but not for the class starting fall 2012.

Sooo... how's it going for everyone? I take the GRE on Friday (gah!) so of course I'm trying to avoid studying for that!

@ AnaLong I lived in Nashville a few years ago, but as an undergrad on campus, so I am in your shoes as well. I've found a few places that look great and have reasonable prices that are about 15 min away from campus. Also, the school website says it will send out information about housing as well as an apartment guide later this spring :)

For those that live or have lived in Nashville, how is the public transportation? If I were to decide to live farther than a walk or bike ride from campus, is it reliable enough to use to get to classes? I understand for clinicals I will probably have to use my car, I am just wondering about the buses in order to avoid expensive parking permits for campus. (this is probably ridiculously far in advance to be asking this.. haha)

excited for a new week and hopefully good news, just news either way :)

Me too @AnneP85! I'm a nervous wreck!

My friends that lived in Bellevue would take the bus in. It is free with your vanderbilt id. However, it was difficult to get the bus back home. It would sometimes be running behind etc. I wouldn't think it is that reliable. If you live close enough, you could bike to vanderbilt. A lot of graduate students do this.

@AnneP85 I just noticed you messaged me, but apparently it won't let me respond. I am new to this site really. I promise that waiting is all it is. I had to force myself to stay busy so I wouldn't even check this website haha. I was freaking out because if I didn't get into Vanderbilt, then I would be moving to Atlanta next month. Something that I definitely was not excited about.

@asulliva4 haha no worries at all :) I finally just chilled out and realized I have done everything I can and now just have to wait and be patient. I have not given up by any means, I know some people found out in March and even later, so the waiting continues ha. I only applied to Vanderbilt this year because of pre-reqs, but have already prepared myself to take more and re-apply to vanderbilt and other schools if necessary, but hoping I won't have to do that!

Completely understandable! I was willing to wait as well. I have been out of undergrad for about 4 years now, and I was jut not wanting to wait. I would have if I had to though. I applied to three schools (Emory/Duke/Vandy). I got waitlisted at Duke and got into the other two. I checked last years message board. You are right that people found out late in March. That was what had me worried! I didn't want to waste 250 dollars on holding a spot at Emory if I didn't need it! I'm sure that you will hear something soon! I think the FNP cohort is around 60 people. And based on how many people have posted on here...it looks like we need quite a few more for the group!

Thanks :) The cohort for PMHNP is like 24-26 unfortunately lol, so.... hoping that I just absolutely wowed them!! ha :) soon!

Hi all! I'm new to allnurses! Just got my acceptance letter to the FNP specialty!! I already have my BSN. So for those who are nurses already, it appears they are sending letters out to us now! I'm so excited! I only applied to Vanderbilt and UNC-Chapel Hill! Still haven't heard back from UNC! Good luck everyone and congrats to everyone who has been accepted :) :)

@AnneP85, thanks for your sweet DM. I can't DM back because I haven't had enough posts.

Just got my waiting list letter for Pre-Specialty ACNP. I'm a little discouraged, but I'm just going to keep pressing through and expressing my interest to .

Congrats to everyone!

Hi Chaiyun! I think I am in a similar position as you. Applied to 1-year FNP as a BSN graduate and still waiting for the decision... pretty scarry... If you don't mind sharing - When did you complete your application? Thanks!

@lifeisbeautiful- I applied at the end of November... It has been a looong three months lol! I really hope you hear something soon! It is scary waiting, not knowing, and trying to plan!
