Why did you pick your NP Program?

As the title suggests, I'm looking for why people decided on the programs that they are currently in and graduated from. Was cost part of the decision? Was acceptances or location an issue? What did you hope to get out of your training with that program (i.e. having enough clinical hours to practice in most states)? With the NP field (psych, primary care...), what were you looking for (i.e. more autonomy)? Did school reputation play a role in your decision?

    Undergraduate alumni, great reputation for Acute care, in-state and awesome professors great mentors, one can tell they are happy to be part of the program 😀

    I'm going where I am to school because of:

    1. Multiple previous students I know were satisfied with the programs

    2. Reputation

    3. It's local to me, which I felt would help with securing preceptors and give me easy access to professors if needed

    I was looking for a school with a good pass rate, good reviews, online with no or minimal campus visits, somewhat reasonable cost, schools who assist with clinical site- in that order of priority.

    More along the lines of university, but you could also discuss your specialty if you like. I just figured that there are so many expensive NP programs, that it made me curious about why NP students chose their programs.

    • Online lectures at a specific time/day each week (so I actually interact with faculty & classmates)
    • Allows clinicals in your community
    • Same price as state university
