Where did you go get your background check for nursing school?

I went to my police department and they don't give them out and then I went to the head Chicago police department and since I don't live in that county anymore they won't give it out. So I'm legit wondering where everyone else go to get their background check for nursing school?

Go to the police station where you DO live.

Do you need the finger printing done or the entire background check? My school and another I had accepted a spot in then backed out used Certified Profile for the background check. I then had a list of places that would do my finger printing. On the other hand when I accepted a federal job out of state (before nursing) and I needed to have finger printing done- they overnighted me the forms- I went to the local state police barracks since my house wasn't in a local police jurisdiction (out in the "boonies").

You should check with your nursing program to see how its done, mine required us to go through an online background check website. I almost wasted time and money going about it on my own but a classmate saved me.

Since I attended nursing school in Oklahoma, my background check for the nursing program had been conducted at the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

Why are you doing your own background check? Doesn't the school do it? As they are checking you? Confused as to why you would do your own.

We did ours through a website too.

I learned I had a petty misdemeanor from 2003 of driving without a licensed driver in the car. Give me a break, Ohio.

I live in a large Midwestern city, and went to the city police department "headquarters" building. It was very simple; they had a large sign posted which announced hours, fees, etc., for those who needed to obtain background checks.

Good luck!

I'm trying to expunge it before I have to go through it with the school. :/

Local Court House, maybe? If getting the record expunged is the goal, that may be your best bet.

Trust me I tried. I Waited there for 3 1/2 for them to only tell me that they don't expunge juvenile records there and I head to go to some place that they reccomended me to, who in turn said I need to obtain my arrest records to get them expunged which no once seems to want to give them to me. Which sucks.

FYI. Even if a record is expunged and sealed the board of nursing can request that the proceedings be unsealed. It's ridiculous, but it can happen, btdt.
