What's wrong with me?

I keep staring over my shoulder looking for a crusty old bat to swoop in and eat me, but alas, none have arrived yet. Ten months in on this gig. I was sure that whole NETY thing had to be true???? I guess the even more alarming thing is realizing I not only graduated school without being bullied by anyone, but I have yet to actually feel abused in the nursing profession. Am I doing something wrong? Is it because I'm really quite average in looks and I am pretty sure I don't know everything?

Please, no bashing! I'm really quite fragile right now and I'm not sure my ego could handle it.

Workplace hostility doesn't take place everywhere and count yourself lucky. I've been fortunate enough to not have much "NETY". I've had some attitude from certain nurses along the way but nothing I couldn't handle. I don't think this kind of thing happens across the board. I also think it is sometimes blown out of proportion by certain people who are sensitive to criticism of any kind, thinking they are being bullied when actually they are being challenged to improve their practice.

I think it's important not to generalize and think that a certain experience will necessarily occur. It's also important to examine workplace hostility in any profession, particularly in the medical field where performance is very important. If someone feels bullied it's good to talk to someone and sort out the issues and develop a plan to improve co worker relationships to assure patient care is not affected by interpersonal issues.

I cannot refrain from profanity. Not possible. It takes people by surprise sometimes because I've got an innocent, young, sort of prudish look about me (not intentionally)..

Lol me too! Now I'm that I'm old the shock factor seems even more pronounced for those who don't know me. It is difficult as someone mentioned with peds. Mostly I try to stick with adolescents in mental health who I'm not going to traumatize if one slips out by accident. :D

Just hang out until you nab a really, really cute doctor---then be a lady that lunches.

No one can NETY you if you are prancing about the unit....so go forward with confidence!!

I work in a rural facility. Mostly the doctors are either really greasy, awkward, or look like Wolverine. (Not in a pretty Huge Jackman way.)

And yet so many seem to not only have a beautiful, intelligent wife and children but a young chippy on the side also. I don't get it, it must be like playing guitar.

Can I just say I think it's hilarious that when ixchel gets quoted, her old avatar photo is showing on the quotes? I'm really enjoying that.

Freudian slip? ;)

Sorry, I couldn't resist.:) Your points are well taken, but I think you missed the light hearted nature of the thread.

I miss the old one. I'm going through withdrawl. Maybe I can Netflix "Rocky Horror"
