This is my first semester in nursing school. We missed the first week of class due to weather. Despite that, our first exam was not pushed back. So we only had 1 week, and not even a full week , We had the Monday off because of MLK day, before our first exam. They did give us assigned readings and assignments online though.
My school handed out a complete published schedule for the entire semester, on the first day of class. One handout is the block schedule with dates, and the companion handout for it is the assigned reading and required videos and assorted other assignments that go with each unit. If you have anything resembling a syllabus with dates, try to move forward on your own while you have this down time. You know that once school gets back in session, the instructors will be rolling through it at warp speed trying to catch up so that it's all done on time.
My ADN program was affected by a teachers' strike back in the late 1970s. Waiting it out was very stressful. As I recall, we didn't miss too many days of clinical but we did have to forego spring break that year.
If your profs are telling you not to worry, don't worry. I know it's hard but try to enjoy the time off and stay safe!

Hello fellow Nursing Students!
I have a quick question. We've been hit hard with ice/snow and the roads have about an inch or two of ice and it's not suposed to get above freezing till late Friday. My school (and tons for that matter lol) has been closed since Tuesday. This means we've missed a total of almost 5 hours of lecture and 3 hours of skills lab. Friday isn't looking too promising either. Has anybody else experience this much weather cancellations in nursing school? Our professors keep telling us to relax and stay warm but it's hard to not start panicing over how much we've missed.
Thank you!
