Hey guys...I was just wondering those of ya'll that are married or living with someone how are you going to set up studying at home? My boyfriend and I are talking about moving in together, but I don't know what I would do in this current apartment about studying...any suggestions?

What are the other two class times then? I know somebody posted a couple of them... I don't think we'll know the clinical times for awhile.

i was only given those two classes because those are the classes we are attending friday january 8th..

hey y'all gotta financial aid email today:

meghanm07,

new students have not been registered or been awarded financial aid as of yet. both of these processes should be complete by the end of the week.

thank you for your patience as we get everyone registered and awarded.

if anyone needs to get cpr certified, this male nurse at my mom's hospital does it and he can certify this weekend or next weekend, he is coming to my area (clear lake) one of these weekends. i will give y'all the details when i get em.

so does that mean we automatically get some sort of financial aid?

Congratulations everyone on getting in this Spring!

I've been trying to go through everyone's previous posts to try to figure out what I should be doing. I have been going crazy looking through the website, but I can't seem to get everything together!

If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it!

1. What is our tentative class schedule? Are we attending all week long with one day of clinicals or is it just a couple days a week?

2. It seems like it is split half and half btwn everyone moving and staying. I live in the Houston area (Jersey Village) and can't decide if I should stay home and make the commute or get dorm on campus, rent, or get an apartment. I'd love to find a roommate if I do decide to move though!

3. When is financial aid due?! I know scholarship deadlines are up, but don't we have to wait til the end of the year to file FASFA?

I'm sure I'll come up with more! But I am sooo excited to be starting soon :) Hope to get to know everyone better!

emag,

I am relocating from DFW and have a couple of friends that live in the Houston area. Oddly enough, they live in or around the medical center. Realistically, how far would the commute be from there to Galveston? I am in the BACC2 program where all my classes are online, but will obviously have to come to campus for lab-type stuff. But like everyone else, I have heard a million different things about where our clinicals MIGHT be. I guess I am just wondering what your take on taking the gamble and moving to the med center is? Are you BACC2 or generic?

Does anyone else have an opinion? I need some input! Plus, I'm coming to town for ONE day next week to find a place. I need to narrow down places to look!!

thank gawd chemistry is over!!!!

i got an email from utmb today:

we are in the process of batch registering new students for spring. new students will be given financial aid awards towards the end of the week or beginning of next week. you will receive an email when you have a financial aid award.

please let me know if you have further questions.

thanks,

theredone..did you get the cpr info?

I would say the drive between Galveston and the med center is about 45 minutes depending on traffic and whatever construction might be going on. I don't know how expensive it is to live around the medical center, but I would imagine that it is pretty pricey since it's downtown Houston and may not be as safe.

I received my financial aid stuff yesterday. I am getting a federal loan that amounts to about $6,000/semester. Once tuition and fees are taking out that only amounts to $2,000 for books/supplies/living per semester! I am looking into some private loans as well!

Also- I would like to join the facebook page. How do I find it? :)

Ms Sealy....I am going tomorrow to give them my paperwork and I'll ask about the CPR while I'm there.

I got my financial aid package yesterday. More than I expected, it will cover tuition and books, but not enough to cover monthly bills, so I'll have to look into private loans too. BUT, like I said, it was a lot more than I expected so that was great news.

Whoever was asking about the FAFSA, you can apply online, and you give them your income info from last year, while choosing "2009-2010," and that would apply to our spring and summer semester. In January or whenever you do your taxes from this current year, then you will put "2010-2011" for the school year for financial aid, which would apply to our fall 2010 and spring 2011 semesters.
