Hi,
I'm in my 3rd semester of nursing(rn) and this semester is so tough. I have a 71% total right now and i'm working hard. Hopefully I do good on this next test but if I don't, I think I may try the Lpn. How is the schooling different at your institution as far as classes? What's the pay difference between rn and lpn?
Thanks

I don't know if you're in an associates or bachelors program, but most places you can challenge the LPN test after your first year of an associates RN program.
Yah, I'm in the associates program and I have one year completed.
Thanks:nurse:

I think a lot of hospitals are phasing out the LPN's. So you might be committed to LTC. Have you looked into this??? Good Luck to you!

I have a friend who is an LTC LPN nad after working as one for about 4 years, she makes $25/hr. No benefits. (She chose the extra pay instead of taking the benefits.)

I encourage you to find a way to stick it out. Make more time to study, find friends to study with, hire a tutor...
LPNs job options are miniscule compared to RNs (even ASN) plus pay is substancially higher.

I also agree that you should try and stick it out...
That said, if you have already passed your first year of an RN program you can sit for the NCLEX-PN. YOu DO NOT need to go to LPN school! You've done it! Ask your nursing dept for info on how to sit for the NCLEX-PN. GL!
