Thinking of droping out.

Forgive me for honesty, but, how stupid is to quit school and your future because of other people. I will never understand why people have to socialize with others at school, work etc. You go there to accomplish your goal, if you meet nice people, that's great, if not, keep your distance and do your thing. Quitting school because of others is childish behavior. You do not give up on your goals because of other people, especially not something that important such is school.

You're absolutely right. I will try to keep my head straight this week... Alot of emotions going through me. But I do feel alot better. Thank you.

Next time when you feel like that, go talk to a friend, go see a movie, go shopping, go to to your favorite restaurant and have a nice dinner all by yourself, but don't even think of quitting school.

Just read your 2nd post. Glad you're feeling better. It is tough when the environment is toxic. Hang in there.

Hey, I realize that it was probably just a vent that you needed to let out! I'm sure that many feel this way at least once. If you are having no problems with nursing school itself and are doing well, just trudge on. Once you are finished with nursing school you won't ever need to see these classmates again if that is your wish. Just keep your eye on the goal and before you know it, you will be graduating from school.

Indeed, emotions run amuck in a career education program when coming from many backgrounds. My gig is middle aged and decades of Respiratory Therapy. I thought I knew it all on day one. In truth, I learned my anatomy and physiology decades ago and forgot most of it. At my age, learning is difficult, and at times I struggle, while the young non-medical non-college guys show me up. Pharmacology is different, I've a PDR in my bathroom forever. (yeah, I know, it's been flagged) So I try to zip my lip and take nothing for granted. And remain patient.

Oh lord, I can sympathize with your situation. The people in my class were horrible! To be honest it was 18 months of hell, and there were times I was tempted to abandon my dream simply because the people were driving me crazy! I am so happy that I DIDN'T abandon my dream cause guess what? I'm an LPN now and haven't seen or talked to any of those jerks since graduation, they are out of my life forever. Hang in there, stay to yourself, learn the material, and count down the days till graduation. You can make it, just believe in yourself and make sure to take the time no matter how busy you are to do some self care and blow off some steam. Best of luck to you!

I know from experience what you mean and I also know this can be hard for you at times. I had a similar experience myself and I didn't have anyone to talk to but frankly I did just what Glina suggested. So, I would say follow what Glina and MedicalLPN suggested and you can't go wrong because I did just that and it worked. Not sure how you practice labs, we were allowed to use the manikins for practice and got checked off if you satisfied the requirements, in clinical, I didn't need the so-called classmates as you had to work one on one with your patients, and get instructions from the clinical instructor. Good thing you are doing well in the program, that's most important, so, stay in the program and you will be glad you did;)

I remember getting ready to hang the noose at the end of my first semester, but, I am so glad that I hung in there. Like Tweety said, don't give these people power. Most of them may be weeded out anyway by the grades. And, if YOUR grades are good, it really would not be wise. This time next year, (or 18 months later), it will all be over and you can move on with your life. There will be MORE days of feeling this way about the classmates, believe me. At least walk away with what you came for!

I know exactly what you are talking about expect I dealt with this situation back in high school and I am sure that I will have to deal with it again in Nursing School but I like I did back then I just ignored them and keep on plugging away until I grauduated and that's exactly what I am going to do when I start nursing school. Try not to let it get to you I know it's hard but show them that your the bigger and more mature person and soon enough you'll graduate and never have to see them again. I hope that everything works out keep us posted ok
