How many students at your school are totally unimmunized? We have ONE. A Kindergarten kid. Russian family who is very much into "alternative" therapies. Poor kid had a horrible ear infection back in December and was sobbing and holding his ears. Had a temp of 101. Called mom to come get him and long story short, she never brought him to the doctor and used some crazy drops. Perfd TMs a few days later. Just happened again last week. I seriously have zero patience for ignorant people.

That's nothing. I have friends who are homeschooled and their grandma is a naturopathic doctor. One time my friend's cat got attacked by another animal and then her cat attacked her soon after. The parents and grandma were freaking because they didn't know if the cat had rabies or not SO THE GRANDMA TREATED WITH WHATEVER SHE HAD. Turned out the cat was fine and didn't have rabies BUT STILL.

A handful of the 2100 - 10 I think. About 80% had gotten some immunizations but balked at the TDaP/Meningoccal (and sometimes second varicella) requirement for 7th. I spend a little time with those parents assessing why, and I usually mention that colleges will require the MCV (they do here in Texas).
The remaining 20% are simply told they need to renew those exemptions biannually and that their children will be excluded when we have pertussis on campus (again) or when we have chicken pox/measles/pick the next thing.
OY VAY about the rabid cat and the perforated TM. Newbie error making my comments in the wrong place.

We have three, in a school population of 420. That's consistent with our statewide average.

I'm legit horrified by this.
I have....none! Thank you California. I have a few 8th graders who dodged a second varicella but that's about it. Even my transfers from Mexico who don't bring their immunization records with them are required to have proof that they've started all their immunization before being allowed to begin their first day.

I also have 3 with close to the same pop.
All of them are medically exempt.

I had one family that was a "religious exemption". I really don't know what religion they supposedly were, but it was just crazy, I couldn't even give her kid a band aid if they needed it, she would be mad. I had to call her about every little thing. Poor kids, it was so sad, they would get sick and NOTHING would heal them, even whatever hocus pocus she used at home. thankfully, they left, and I really think they were just running from some one or something, very odd.
Otherwise, I have only a few that are not fully immunized and that is because they were not born in this country..
